Sash windows are suitable for any room in your property. Ideally the window size should be bigger than 90cm x 60cm. To get the most attractive results we recommend a window size of over 1.1 metres.

If you live in a Grade I or Grade II listed building or one of the 8000 plus designated conservation areas in the UK then you might have no choice but to use timber sash windows in your property. This is due to the tight regulation of the significant character of these areas. It is always advisable to contact your local Conservation Officer when replacing an existing window in a listed building or within a conservation area.

If you are renovating a Georgian, Regency or Victorian property or building a new house to one of these styles then timber sash windows are a significant feature.

If there is something internally that is front of the window, such as a sink or bath which makes it difficult to reach the window.

If there is an obstruction externally, such as a tree or a wall, which would prevent the window opening outwards then a sash window would be the perfect solution.
